Short answers on timelines, licences and what it takes to run a team from GIFT City.
Most IFSC licences take about 11 to 20 weeks from first meeting to go-live, depending on the licence, document readiness and regulator responses. A GIC has 180 days after in-principle approval to meet the conditions. A treasury centre must start operations within six months of registration.

A GIC provides services to a financial institution group, for example operations, risk or technology for a bank. A GRCTC runs a corporate group's own treasury: cash, funding, FX and risk.
A GIC or TAS unit needs a full-time Principal Officer and Compliance Officer in the IFSC. A treasury centre needs at least five qualified staff, including a Head of Treasury and a Compliance Officer, though IFSCA can relax this for up to a year after start.
No. The 2025 GIC regulations do not allow a GIC to be set up by transferring existing contracts or work from the group's Indian entities.
